Busy, long-term goals in sight and improving my cooking skills. A good risotto is worth all the preparation. Tomorrow ratatouille. Mar 26, 2024 at 5:53 PM

Pastas and risottos. Some people cannot deal with "al dente", some people demand "certain shapes" and some people cannot read a menu. You warm the pan, salt the water and stare...

Daft Punk is great. They are sample junkies of the highest order. Like DJ Shadow does, they know their sound and make it work. It is an art.

Removed OneDrive. If making simple manual back-ups to an external drive are such an annoying process, Microsoft can keep its junk. This is not acceptable.

Microsoft's design philosophy is "Do it our way or not at all."

Unless you are held hostage by software that you really, really, can't substitute or replace, jump ship. Get out of there. Life will feel better. Cleaner. Even, easier!

Claymore is a fun read. Ending for it was mixed without a doubt but I enjoyed the series for the most part. Anime is worth checking out if you just ignored the anime original ending also.

The ending of the anime did not work for me. The manga does a better job. Also "Raki" in the anime is terrible. At least in the manga he becomes a bad-ass.

I vaguely remember coming across this in my teens. Knowing me, I probably thought it was a natural-history book or something.

Am I right in thinking it is deeply depressing? I've been avoiding a re-read ever since, but have long-since forgotten why.

I have read more depressing books. That story ends in a way you want to have drink, vomit out all your frustrations and drink again. You want a good gut punch? Russian literature will feed you vodka in prose...

With the great exception of The Master And Margarita being one of my all-time-favourite books, I haven't tried much from Russia.

I tried The Idiot, and threw it aside. It was too idiotic. It was like a TV reality show where people are scripted to do stupid things.

Used to read Conrad. But because I loved sailing stories, rather than man's inevitable march into a karmic destiny of doom and gloom ;)

I’m just not seeing what the falling had to do with that specific injury. It seems that the injury happened from the collision with Rico’s head, which is probably akin to kicking a log. He didnt seem to land on that foot.

Who knows? You might have a point there.

It annoys me that this kickboxing star (also because hype) cannot keep his balance, thus lack of good footwork and as such has increased chances at sustaining preventable basic injuries.

Years of training taught me that striking without balance is like making a long jump without landing place. Happy feet keep you alive, literally.
