I would say wear and tear of 120ish career fights had more to do with his ankle injury but who are we to criticize the technique of one of the greatest of all time. He was winning before the injury though.
I’m just not seeing what the falling had to do with that specific injury. It seems that the injury happened from the collision with Rico’s head, which is probably akin to kicking a log. He didnt seem to land on that foot.
It annoys me that this kickboxing star (also because hype) cannot keep his balance, thus lack of good footwork and as such has increased chances at sustaining preventable basic injuries.
Years of training taught me that striking without balance is like making a long jump without landing place. Happy feet keep you alive, literally.
