Any computer brands stick out for desktop reliability anymore? Normally, I'd build one, but this is for my parents whom I can't visit atm.

The b class models usually have longer warranties as well. If you need new check hp or dell for deals from online outlet on their site.

Crap, my Theta sounds better with my speakers than my Modi MB, but the Modi MB works better with my headphones. Both at my desk. Sigh.

A bit more treble energy and dynamic with the Theta. Been primarily using modded HD800s so a little too much for relaxed listening. But with my speakers (DIY Carmody S2000) incredible synergy. Really woke them up.

Haha, been pondering a vintage R2R to replace MMB in my main spkr/HP setup so very interested in your findings. What amp(s)? Does your MMB have the new firmware? How would you describe the character of the Carmodys? Etc...

For my speakers, I am using an Adcom 5200 (maybe a touch warm), and for HP an ECP L2 (a little warm as well). The S2000s are a more forward and detailed Overnight Sensation if you are familiar. MMB is a v2. MMB might be a touch more detailed or clearer through the midrange. I really haven't developed a good ear or vocabulary to describe things well. I just notice macro differences.

Did you watch the 'Our Country' version 2 weeks ago? I had the opposite feeling for that one - with just a couple exceptions, every performer sounded like they were mic'ed exactly the same, so how much of that was done in a more-controlled setting, even if in their homes, then lip-synced?

Any recommendations for a not-break the bank adjustable monitor arm? Needs to hold a beefy 34" Ultrawide that has the power brick inside.
      1. fraggler
        fraggler
I have an inexpensive one that can handle most of the weight, but the failure point is the joint at the back of the monitor. At this point, the slightest bump of the monitor will result in it swinging all the way down.

My system does double duty, but leans more towards HT. I am a fairly low volume listener for both and the L12 has been more than I could have hoped for (coming from cheapo Yamaha and Energy subs).

Nicely controlled for music, gives me some very satisfying rumble for movies (the really low stuff you feel more than hear). Plus it is about as small as you can get for a 12" Won't hit you in the chest like a larger sub, but I don't think you get one thinking it will.
