I have a JRiver master license, but man it runs like ass. Kinda hoping for something like foobar2k at this point.

I used Audirvana on it before I got Roon. Not great interface but good music player. VOX is free player that plays all file format

I've been on Audirvana for awhile and have been happy with it. UI is has improved since being overhauled in the last year, and everything works with minimal fuss. Also decent Tidal integration if you're into that (there's Qobuz integration as well but I haven't tried it for myself)

I'm also curious about this, I've been using iTunes for 17 years, I always end up back here after trying new apps.

Audirvana - lots of tweakage options if you are into that thing. Not free.

@purr1n do you hear an improvement over iTunes when playing standard 16/44.1 files?

probably not, unless I tweak the filters in audirvana.

Roon is pretty great if you've never tried it. Pricey though.

Another vote for Audirvana.

Roon now costs $700 and is not a great experience on small screen Macs. Audirvana or JRMC are the most sought after apps. Amarra used to be popular until a few years back. Not anymore for some reason, and I haven’t tried it.

I tried Audirvana again, and as much as it kills me to say this, the Apple Music app is still the best option for me.

Use Winyl. Foobar sucks.
