I'm so open to buy new crap on DSD, since there are times I prefer the mastering on that format. But nooo, you had to be Sony and ruined something great or at least "useful."

Shouldn't say this, but I keep hold it in any longer. DSD isn't bad, just use it as another format to consider if there's an album you want with excellent remastering.

At least for some albums you can buy the DSD file, but of course audiophile prices required. *Rant Over*

@YMO I have met folks like that in S.F. audio shops before. The sales people see them coming from a mile away. They seem to know I’m looking for a good deal on demo equipment fast. Maybe it’s my laughing when they tell me the price.

Out of the biggest audio enthusiasts I have met, I prefer those with the exact opposite view: very few watts and high-efficiency speakers!

Well I probably qualify for old-fart status, but I've learned the value of 8 good watts into great high sensitivity speakers 80Hz and above, with active crossover into 800W below 80Hz into Big Woofers and carefully time aligning the system.

Depends on what you have now. Sony, image-wise, is usually my choice as TV goes, not the best interface or sound but that i can live with. From what i see you already have a bunch of gear...save for vacations.

I'm not paying money for CBS Access for the new Trek series. Everyone wants my money for one show.

Hopefully the market will weed out the weak performing ones sooner than later. But then comes access to those properties other than pirating.

The big ones will survive because they have studios and create media. The smaller ones will struggle and die off.

Check with your local libraries about Criterion. Kanopy has at least some and is free through a number of libraries here.

Last time in a used book store, I found a 1942 edition of Slater's 'Microwave Transmission' for a few bucks. Prompted me to start looking for Maxwell's 'A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism', but I can only find Volume 1

I try to stay away from Bandcamp because I could spend years and thousands of dollars there, discovering new stuff. But I might have to have have a peek. I have most of the PG stuff I want on CD, but here's hoping for some new material.

I been mostly haven't been getting some of the older PG I kind of want on files. Still I like BC on a price advantage.
