Man, major mixed feelings about LCD2C with Dekoni Velours. Better in so many ways. More balanced, but maybe that isn't quite what I wanted.

@HotRatSalad I would expect more people to prefer the 2F, honestly wouldn't surprise me. The prominent dip is make or break. I personally don't find them overly dark. Cymbals almost sound a bit splashy to me. To me HD6xx's sound more rolled off on the upper extreme.

I am all about the bass and midrange on them. They've got that over the 2F for me, though the 2F is generally the better balanced headphone.

You should be able to order the slanted vegan pads direct from Audeze. You have to provide your serial number, but they are THE best pads for the LDD-2C IMO. Still retains killer bass, tames the top end 8k peak, and the slats give them a bit of space.

@rtaylor76 So you CAN still get those directly from them? I was curious about them but it didn't seem too hopeful. Have to just reach out and see what they say. Is there a specific name or part number I should ask for?

@Hands has some excellent measurements on the improvements the OEM Vegan Pads bring, amp pairing is important but I feel that the PADs are even more worthwhile

I had mixed feelings about them too for a while, paired with my Jot 1 and Vali 2+. I almost ended up selling them after about a month.
Then I read about people who pad rolled to the Dekoni Elite Velours, bought a set for myself and now I think I'll be keeping these.

LCD-2C needs only two things...the vegan slanted pads to give them some space and tame that 8K peak, and a good amp with good power. Vali 2 was never enough - too congested. Lyr 3 was great, Liquid Carbon is what I use now, and Liquid Platinum is what I would use if I were a rich man.

It really is better across the board. Extension is better, with more air. Maybe a touch less of that upper mid edge. Tone largely unchanged, just some clarity. And so much more comfy.

Thanks yall. I think I'm lucky, my hearing seems fine aside from the crickets - just a painful lurch with any air pressure changes. Probably got it as a result of flipping my hair back in the shower and shooting water straight in.

I was worried it would be middle or inner, where the damage tends to happen. All I can say now is when this clears I'm sure my headphone setup will be mindblowing. :D

I wouldn't be surprised. I think if I was sniffing out rare, expensive tubes I'd need to invest in a tester. Though for less expensive ones backed by return policy, I'm not quite as concerned. The chances are a lot slimmer that some rare, expensive tube will be good, just by those things.

I can hear blood flow when it's quiet, basically the sea shell effect but lower volume. Also have some allergies to soja and milk which causes fluid buildup in my sinuses that mess with my hearing. Causing ringing.

For me, it's steady high-pitched noise, like if you did a high pass on white noise or something. Mostly I don't notice it, but when I do latch on, it's there for days. Surely some damage involved (can think of too many events LOL,) but it's hard to say since it's always been there. Can't remember a time when sleeping in silence was ever possible.

Do you use Modi Multibit currently? Save your pennies for a used Gungnir Multibit man. It’s a kick ass upgrade, although some say the SE outs are not the best, I think it’s over exaggerated, especially if the rest of your rig isn’t insanely resolving.

Got an SW51+ coming that I anticipate I'll be sticking with amp-wise, and the next look was going to be DAC/preamp. And then hopefully be happy for another coupla years. Appreciate the recc

My most trusted people wear transceivers at all times in case I go too far and "The Portal" opens up again. The transceivers have the power to teleport them over, to help me close it. See, every time it opens, resonant beings come out, and tend to soupify people's brains when they pass through. Turns out forcing 100khz brainwave modulation is bad for people.

Can't exactly put a sign out for that, yanno!

Sometimes it just is. Seemingly not a huge POI for the smartphone world, though. Often the 3.5mm comes right from the CPU package to a basic opamp.

G8 has a ES9218P in it - on-chip clock AND amp. Superior to poorly implemented DAPs with discreet chips. And it really sounds as good as decent desktop stuff. $500 is better spent on this than a DAP. No decent phone should have bad sound with chips like that out there.

No, but actually the water wasn't nasty like that. It just had enough resistance that when the flapper stuck it ran over, so maybe 2% pisswater.

The shitty job was replacing it, which I did myself. Oddball old toilet and the only parts available are shitty before you even install them. Insurance company may say it's fine, AFAIC it is cursed.

It was stressful, but I didn't lose much but the floors. Floor is not for keeping things in my house. 3am is just terrible timing.

When I pulled everything out of the room and put it back in, I rearranged it and found the sweet spot. Though I'm willing to bet there's a perfect sweet spot under the toilet floor too. It would just make sense, and might be useful for difficult poops.
