I’d agree entirely with @m17xr2b about trying the fever tree tonics; they’re great for making the most of your gin. Sometimes ordinary, diet tonics are good because regular tonic can be a bit too sweet, sometimes masking the subtleties of the gin’s botanicals. But that’s a highly-subjective matter of taste.
From here you get to the high performers of The Botanist, Brooklyn Gin, Hendricks, and St. George (all $35-40 range) which are like the Aeolus, Clear, or HD 800. St. George is the ZMF of gin: they make two excellent, craft gins, the Terroir and the Botanivore.
Finally, there are great opportunities for modding. In the US, limes are typically added; in the UK, lemons, or for Hendricks, a slice of cucumber. A Meyer lemon makes for a nice variation, as does grapefruit.
I second The Botanist. Hendricks is a solid one. I not so secretly enjoy Kirkland gin alot more than some mainstream and even small batch stuff I have tried. Also for some fun sipping, try a bourbon barrel finished gin from someone like Few.
Botanist and St George are pretty good for what we can find in Texas. Roku is nice but doesn't really taste like gin. My favorite gin has been this East London Gin Batch #1, but I was only able to find that in London.
