I'm a fifties child, and all that stuff was very much still around as I grew up.
Makes me wonder... The TV, films... full of WW2. Looking back, I'd think that my parents' generation, who had just lived through it, would not want the constant reminder. Perhaps it helped some come to terms with trauma.
@Vera Lynn on Pink Floyd's The Wall! After a few listens to the album I was curious about some things, ended up Googling Vera Lynn and getting into some of her popular work. I absolutely love this version:
Oh no, whoops, just meant that I loved that particulare version of "We'll Meet Again" (which I sometimes belt out at full volume, much to the chagrin of others in my immediate vicinity :P). This is the Pink Floyd song:
