Was I just out of the loop, or is it a relatively recent term for headphones? I don’t remember hearing it 10 years ago.

^(sarcasm?) It just seems so cliché whenever I read that word in impressions or reviews. I think I might have used it a few times, but I try not to.

Funny thing, true endgame performance may only be determined by each individual for themselves. This requires learning personal preferences and refining until those preferences are satisfied. Which may change over time. If one has to be told, then it will never be achieved or understood.

Endgame is relative to a particular time and purpose, it's doesn't exist in absolute terms. Most cretins equate it to the best of the best even without having an absolute benchmark so pointless hype is born. This hobby is a journey not a destination with multiple checkpoints along the way.

Endgame is what you think it is.

For schiiters endgame is Ragnarok and the fact that there is already a ragnarok 2 available tells you everything about endgame in this hobby
