    @RobS Yes! DT880 250 was my first 'audiophile' headphone. I hear the 600 ohm is better. Always thought there was some untapped potential there...

    @netforce after watching a disassembly video I'm a little worried about messing up the cable leads (could always solder but don't really want to deal with the hassle), and there's not much room to work with here. So I'll pass on those but thanks for the offer!

    No worries, it doesn't seem like the AKGs ever have too much space for modding. Got a pair of Audio Technica ESAW9A but it might be the same case, too small to do any mods on it.
