No,no,no I'm not falling into the LCD-4 trap again, it's abusive love and short lived. Another dimension...no, 10% better than the top 5% maybe.

Is it really that bad? I'd probably have one already if I weren't so scared of getting a lemon like I did with the LCD-2.

It's far from bad, one of the best headphones there is but when you apply the 4K price tag price/performance comes crashing down and leaves it open to harsh criticism.

I mean, you could say almost the same thing about the Utopia. The difference is that any 2 Utopias sound pretty much the same, whereas you can't guarantee that with Audeze.

I've seen used ones sell as low as $2200 which doesn't seem ridiculous vs used Utopias or new Verite. I still prefer TH900 bass on everything but acoustic bass. LCD-4 bested my 2010 LCD-2s only modestly in resolve and articulation, but I still preferred the tone of my 2's. Still wouldn't want to have any of them as my only headphone.

Yes and no, LCD-4 has a very unique sound where if that's your cup of tea nothing else will do. Utopia sound is more mainstream with many headphones having a similar or better sound signature without the congested soundstage.
Recently LCD4 has had better matching from the very random samples I've heard, still...buyer beware.

The hifi shop down the street, which carried Audeze, closed down. My point of reference has changed so much in the last year that I think I need to hear it again!

Just wanted to mention that I'm only using these with EQ. Used for $2250 they're worth the money imho although the stock tuning needs work.

Oratory1990 measured mine + one more unit. Both were nearly identical so hopefully the days of large variations are behind them at least for the flagships....I'd rather support them than Hifiman. You look at the condition of used HEKs, they look cheap as hell with a bit of real world wear.
