I use the "Random Item" feature on Discogs to help me decide what to spin up. Otherwise, I hem and haw and take forever to decide...

I use this so often when I am not sure what I am in the mood for. Just keep shaking my phone until it serves me up a random selection that I am feeling.

Weeding out CD collection. Hot/Loud pressings are getting the boot. I’ll replace with “gentler” masterings if possible.

I don't think it is too controversial to state The Beatles (White Album) is over-rated - relative to other works in the catalog.

Hot take: The 2018 remix is superior to the 1968 stereo mix (sadly not so for the Pepper and Abbey Road remixes).

@Merrick I have that 2018 remix LP. I'll need to really listen and compare to the 1987 CD release. I've got the 2009 CD arriving this week.

If I want to discuss the differences between the 1987 and 2009 Beatles CD releases, should I listen only on CD or is lossless FLAC OK?

I wonder if that’s why it seems used CDs made in Japan or Europe seem to be more desirable than those made in the USA?

I'm listening to the 1987 CD and the 2012 LP (from the 2009 remaster) as I type. There's the difference in media to account for, but the 2012 is a little warmer & punchier than the CD. Not as much as one would think, though!

I'm pretty sure the 2009 remasters have better liner notes and stuff. The 1987's are bare bones. I'd buy the 2009 on that fact alone. Thank goodness they sound good (from what I've been told).

After reading Murakami's book about running I felt I had to train again. Not to be fast. Just to go out and do something that makes you feel alive. Slowly working to a 10K/6.5Mile and then I might go for half marathon in a few years. Hard to explain but running feels good.

Oh that's alright man, I wasn't asking for or expecting a critical a/b comparison. I was just interested in casual first impressions/ thoughts after comparing the two. I recently put my Headroom desktop balanced back in my system while my other amp is getting upgraded, so I could somewhat relate to your scenario and was curious as to what your thoughts were.

FWIW, the MicroAmp I have has the “Desktop Module” in it. I think the amp aged well. The DAC can only handle 24/48, I think?

Thanks for your impressions. I think that's fair to say, I think it's aged rather well, if you're looking for the type of sound that the amp was tuned for. Regarding the dac section, I never used higher than 24/44, so I'm not entirely sure. I'm probably going to put mine up for sale. Hopefully, someone can use it and enjoy it instead of it just sitting in my closet.
