    Naw...went with Wondershare Recoverit. Nice easy to use software. No music on the drive...mostly precious photos. *gulp* But was the reason for the Linux sever in the house anyway.

    The day one writes the old backup tape to the disk instead of the disk to the tape. Thank god it was Friday: had to work the weekend to recover from that. Have multiple Linux installations, plus data partitions on my system: have to be super careful with /dev/this and /dev/that. Even then, mistakes are possible.

    All files recovered. Whew! Just remember, if you do accidentally quick format on the wrong drive, all is not lost...just a PITA.
