Got lucky, my area's not bad off. Cold as shit, had to boil water and wrap doggos up cuz they were shivering, teeth chattering, but it's way less scary than what happened elsewhere. No real flooding here but just a region over it went past roofs
Predictions that this would trigger lahar (volcanic mud) waves were spot on. The fact COVID cases are still around +1800 new daily means that this was f'ing catastrophic for containing the spread.
It could have been much worse. The areas that went under were those that already had a tendency to flood/get mudslides so preemptive evacs helped keep deaths to a minimum, but some reportedly ignored warnings and stayed. Not sure about veracity of that yet. Property damage was shit still though.
This explains things succinctly. Metro Manila got off easy other than temps getting uncomfortably cool (probably within normal temps for loads of EU peeps) but apart from the flooding and mudslides in some areas it could have been much worse.
TL;DR Rolly was a bastard and skewed south instead of hitting M. Manila dead-on as expected, but other vulnerable places were hit hard. Still, preemptive measures were taken that mitigated deaths. Siony is unlikely to be a major problem since it's weakened and will be making landfall in a relatively unscathed area.
