Only own SR1a, but I have extensively auditioned various modded HD800s. If you want that headstage HD800 is still the way to go. SR1a doesn't stage very well even though some of it exists outside your head. HD800 cannot touch SR1a transients.

SR1A makes that first re-listen in years an absolute joy...

All from distant memory, but maybe the only area where I'd give Liquid Platinum an edge is wider stage.. which almost feels irrelevant with the HD6X0 line.

Felt like I was rolling the dice on both. But the Monarch is an incredible value as a neutralish + technical IEM with a fine sub-bass tilt that will make heads bob and booties shake. I strongly prefer it to the only other pricey IEM's I've heard: UM Mest, CFA Atlas and Solaris (OG).

DX160 sucks at everything (interface, wifi, battery) but sound. Don't pay full price but balanced out on this makes the Monarchs sing.

These guys will go down in history as some of the greatest pop songsmiths ever. But what a reminder that few things breed more contempt and life-chaos than run-away commercial success.

I have been curious about the Monolith True Wireless they just released. Looks like they are doing the same approach of not tuning them and relying on Sonarworks though, as they are majorly promoting that collaboration.

Shoot, now I'm having a look at it. Not a bad move to apply DEQ to that category where sound quality still matters, but isn't necessarily king.

Yeah, at $100 on sale for black friday, if comfort isn't terrible, call quality is solid, and battery life isn't terrible... Maybe worth a whirl? I am just so not a DEQ guy, but probably only way they are tolerable
