Not worth another status: Tyll mentioned somewhere that "microphonics" as used to refer to mechanical transmission of noise via cable wasn't correct but with IF down I can't exactly find the context. Does anyone remember the term he used? It's been bugging me for a few weeks.
I remember that...I think the phrase was "microphony" or "prone to microphonism" The Wikipedia quote:
"Microphonics, microphony, or microphonism describes the phenomenon wherein certain components in electronic devices transform mechanical vibrations into an undesired electrical signal (noise). The term comes from analogy with a microphone, which is intentionally designed to convert vibrations to electrical signals."
