I thought of getting the HD6XX with an add on mic, which has a few problems- above budget, is more music not as much gaming and it probably won't work too well out the the PS4 controller. Maybe the HD58X? HE5XX?

The Audeze Penrose is above budget but if I hear enough good things I'll consider it

Sennheiser x Drop PC37X. Good sound for music and games, you can get a short 4-pole cable for combo jacks.

If anyone near you is selling one of the larger Fostex/E-Mu/Denon biocellulose beasties for cheap; they do quite well out of flea power devices and stage well for gaming. Unfortunately they often hold their value. I haven't seen them cheap since Drop discontinued their version. The still available and cheap E-MU Purpleheart might surprise you in a good way though.

    Some downsides:
    -None of these have microphones.
-The bigger Fostex cans have thick cables that can get in the way unless you custom cable them.
-The smaller Purpleheart may be better suited to portable duties.

The larger cans are vented closed backs that stage more like they are semi-open but the newer (current) Denons are closed. I have yet to hear the new Denons so I might be off base here.

Do you really need something new? I use all of my headphones with a Blue Yeti mic without any trouble.
