Well, my CPU is trying to re-enact Chernobyl, the three potential fixes are replace Mobo, replace CPU, or reseat the cooler. Praying for #3.

I'll keep that in mind. This is an x99 system, and I got the OEM tray, so no stock cooler for me. I have plans for my next upgrade/rebuild to do an EK-based custom loop, but that is 9 months out.

A reseat failed, so now I'm going to get a new cooler, still cheaper than getting a Mobo.

For the more discerning listener, a dedicated AC line and ground isn't enough...

Holy shit, though. I thought the non-electrician guys rewiring their houses to have dedicated mains were crazy enough. What's next? Anechoic chamber house extensions?

@Riotvan , you mean USPS or UPS? I found that shipping companies are generally fine if you take non national couriers. USPS though, they gave me a heart attack. 1 month delay with tracking seemingly stopped.

Counterintuitively, I have found the private companies - those who actually need to compete to survive and be profitable - perform worse than USPS. Go figure.

Jason is so funny and eloquent in describing what many of us have felt for a while. An absolutely terrific chapter. Hope it gets more circulation on other Hi-End audio websites (but I doubt many of those sites have the balls to speak on it and/or link to it).

I miss that can from time to time.. owned it twice (and the LCD-2F once).. in the end, the slants won out over them.. but the LCD-2.2 pre-fazor definitely have a place in my heart (and ears). Terrific bass and mids.. but the zero soundstage and decisively shelved treble were aspects I couldn't overlook after some extended time with them.. bet they'd sound lovely out of a MJ2 or Bryston, though.

I was late in the batch, so I ordered in October 2014. That's something like a year and a half, give or take a bit. Though I'm slightly peeved since I paid the final payment a month ago. I thought it was just a week on the burn-in rack, apparently I was wrong.

Last time I flashed a new bios version my computer stopped booting into Windows entirely. I was on the verge of ordering a replacement chip from ebay until I luckily found a newer, beta version that worked. Not touching that stuff again, especially with 5 year old hardware.

Only thing is, I wouldn't consider those "applied science" people to be scientists, just people with better than average knowledge of science. Not that they are bad or stupid per se, but they simply aren't "doing" science; the goals and methods are too different.

In education this tends to lead to confusion. Create application specialists without proper scientific foundation and WTF science follows at one point. Society needs more classical training when it is done complaining about not understanding science...
