Damn the Audio Technica ATH-R70x is underrated, amazing FR right out the box. Been too long since I haven't felt an immediate need for EQ.

Not sure if there is some magic synergy happening with the Geshelli stack, but these are lovely so far. I got one of the made in Japan ones, I wonder if the Taiwan ones are worse or if they had production issues early on. Dont hear the grain people are complaining of, at least not so far.

Had it quite a long ago. Sold because it didn't favor my big head.. oh well. And agreed with very well balanced tonality. I suspect it the most neutral among Audio Technica ever released.

Listen to youtube sound demos, come across headphones never heard of, think they sound great, realize they cost nearly 4k, cry.

AD2000 revealed a notable flaw in PEACE EQ hearing test EQ generator, doesn't account for narrow spikes well.

The Peace EQ hearing test EQ generator is fascinating. Has you take a hearing test then generates a EQ designed for your hearing.

Yep it is Windows only ATM sadly, dont know if it will be ported or not.I havent heard it whisper sweet nothings about Topping in my ear so I think its safe :).

It has you do tests so if your hearing is real bad, the test result and resulting EQs will be based on it, so the hard of hearing could certainly benefit!

Its still a WIP imo, for one thing it goes nuts if you set the max frequencies around your hearing limit, like mine is around 17k but its got to be loud for me to hear it, so it was trying to put a 20db boost there which is insane and no sane person would do that.

Main complaint is that its going for Harmon-like curve, I would like to see more target curves in the future.

Geshelli JNOG officially sold out. They ran out of AKM chips and all options to get more failed. 2021 gonna be the year of ESS/Cirrus Logic

The PCM1798 is still in production. As well as PCM1794. Then there is the AD1955. Although yes, the market will likely be dominated by ESS and CS designs.

Forgive me for I have sinned, I have heard a difference between headphones cables (or possibly this adapter being garbage IDK).

Trying to find the best combo of Archel 2.5/Asgard3/JNOG/Modius is maddening! Why they all have to sound so good!

I have been considering that same combo actually. I am trying to decide between Erish and Asgard or just getting a Jot 2, tough call!

Thats another good choice. I kind of like the idea of having two different sounding amps at my desk but it does seem like the Jot 2 would be better than the Asgard and Erish.

Got the DCA Aeon Open RT and already like it more than I liked the Aeon 2 open lol. Very nice FR right out the box, great off Geshelli stack.

Yeah Aeon 2 Opens upper bass is completely overwhelming. On a technical level it was exceptional, but its held back so much by its FR. After EQ it was good, ultra detailed but a little boring, the RT is more fun and needs EQ less.

I'm looking at the Aeon Open RT as well. Any idea how it compares to the closed version?

You can check out the soundstage solo review of the Aeon RT closed, he liked the closed more than the open. Looking at the FR charts, I think the closed version is closer to "neutral" than the open while the open is more V shaped. Open has more upper bass for sure. I still havent tried any of DCAs closed headphones, but they seem to be higher regarded than the open versions generally.

Geshelli JNOG dac is legit, think I actually prefer it to the Modius via XLR. Shame AKM fire has killed their stock of 4493 chips.

How is the SE vs Balanced on it?
Modius is great with bal out, but se is horrible. I had their enog earlier which had much better SE out vs Modius SE.

The JNOGs XLR to me is better than its SE. Its SE is by no means bad, but XLR out is just a straight upgrade at least for my taste. They sound very similar to each other though, more so than the Modius as the Modius XLR and RCA sound real different from each other (by dac standards). I would say both the JNOG and the Modius really need a amp with XLR to get the most of them.

Comparing Archel 2.5 to Asgard 3 via Modius is a interesting experience. Didnt expect Archel to be smoother than Asgard!
