Pioneer/Onkyo has been in really limbo ever since the Gibson bankruptcy forced a sell off. At TSAV we were Pioneer dealers but didn't order anything in years and got a letter saying Japan was taking over USA operations even though we hadn't talked to them in a while. Our contact's number was disconnected so we couldn't even talk to anyone.
My guess for Drop selling the receiver, its an old model Pioneer is sitting on thousands of units and needs a place to dump them and Drop is willing to help.
Gibson really ran all their companies into the ground and into bankruptcy. Such a shame though Gibson has seemingly gone back to its roots and rebuilt while it seems like the companies it was forced to sell have been struggling.
I blame Henry J. The board if directors finally forced him into retirement in that bankruptcy because none of zhis dilusions paid off. The new CEO is doing fairly well thus far. I used to work there...was a silly place back then.
