After a lull in new headphones of note, feel like we're getting a lot between a potential HD8XX, the ETA Genesis, and Focal Clear Magnesium. Expect Zach will be releasing a new closed-back soon too...exciting times!

Well, this could explain all the HD800S deals I've been seeing lately. An HD8XX under $1K just might break my will.

So, do I save up for something like the HD8XX or just keep buying music? Hmm. Nah.... no need to put the cart before the horse. Tunes before gear.

Looks like yokes and cups but the rest of the silohette looks Sennheiser-ish.

Upon 2nd thought - Senn components but separate from the Senn frames - may lead to some interesting results.

On the flip side, I hope this doesn't end up going the way of HD700, HD820, 660s, etc.

If it's a Senn I am EXTREMELY doubtful we'd see a tuning revision vs HD800S. Senn R&D department kind of devoid of good ideas post HD650. Also, there will never be a sunken driver headphone like the HD800 without some upper mid dip and treble peak. It's just an inherent behavior of the enclosure shape. Cheaper HD800S is the best that could be expected IMO.

@E_Schaaf a good point. I liked the HD800s enough when I owned one that if I could rebuy at a reasonable price I would probably jump on it, but it would be a bit underwhelming if that is all it is.

More the latter. Zach has talked on live-streams about a sub-1000 closed-back he's working on with a more harman-esque tonality. He even showed off a prototype! Not sure when it will actually come out, of course.
