I don't know specifically about these pads but I had a friend change out old factory pads to 3rd party pads and he said sonically it was a horrible disaster. He bought new factory pads and threw the 3rd party in the trash

So far I've only heard bad things (in terms of sound) about 3rd party pads for the 650/6XX. Haven't bothered to try them myself yet.

It is a bummer that it costs a quarter of the total headphone price just to replace the pads on a 6XX.

Drop's selling a bunch of replacement pads for the HD6XX and 58X: https://drop.com/buy/drop-earpads-for-hd6xx-and-hd58x

At first I thought they were the Dekoni ones (velour, hybrid velour, sheepskin, defenestrated sheep's skin) but the manufacturer doesn't seem to be identified (I'm not interested enough to trawl through all the reviews or discussion posts for them).

The construction looks like 100% Dekoni to me. Their velour pads have a two-piece stitched construction that is folded over and hand glued onto a plastic frame, which unfortunately is a major design flaw. The velour fabric pulls off the frame exposing the foam. Dekoni has sent me a new pair but the second pair failed the same way.
