In a time where anything we say can reach a global audience, it seems we can't actually say anything at all.

Oh please, this guy is blaming cancel culture for his noxious views. I don’t care how many times he quotes Solzhenitsyn, he’s not a victim.

So anyone to the right of the NYT holds "noxious views"?

In addition, anyone to the right of the NYT deserves to be canceled by their employer (in this case the label and taking including his fellow band mates) unless he confesses to his Wrong Think - which he did, for a couple of months before the conscious kicked back in...

I didn’t say anyone to the right of the NYT holds noxious views. He’s defending Andy Ngo, whose career has had the main goal of legitimizing neofascist groups. He said he’d rather leave the group than not call Ngo brave. That his choice. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences.

I don't follow him, but as near as I can tell Andy Ngo's greatest sin is being conservative and exposing a bit of Antifa's tactics. A label black listing an artist for approving of Ngo's work is what is "facsist" if anything really is...

And his “exposing of antifa tactics” are done through selectively edited videos to ensure antifa always looks like the aggressor. He’s also well known for doxxing, regardless of whether his info is actually correct or not. He’s not a journalist, he’s an agitator.

Bah - Antifa IS the "aggressor" - Portland is proof. Burning, looting, etc., it's all there in the open and is explicitly "revolutionary" and anti-government. As I understand it Ngo simply exposed some of the inner workings/organization, but then I don't really follow his work.

In any case, whatever Ngo's sin in the eyes of the Antifa left, why would a corporation such as Marshall's label black list him for reading Ngo? The Antifa left is fundamentally anti-tolerant and anti-liberal is the answer...

Oh yawn. I just showed you that he was acting as a propagandist for neofascists and your response is essentially “nah nah nah I can’t hear you.” My mistake for thinking you wanted a real conversation, clearly you just want to flap your gums about how EVIL antifa is.

You just showed me how the Inquisition works. You name the unforgivable sin(s), proclaim who is and is not EVIL, all to justify intolerant cancel corporatism. What if he had read Lenin, or Hitler, does this mean he should be blacklisted? It's all McCarthyite tactics...Ngo (and Marshall), whatever their sin, exposes this.

He wasn’t blacklisted! People online were mean to him, boo f'ing hoo. He’s the son of a multimillionaire who was in a huge band where he got to do exactly what he wanted and he could have kept doing it if he wanted. No one was forcing him to quit and unless you have proof otherwise you’re just playing chicken little shouting the sky is falling.

Yes he was, or rather the band was, by the lable, thus the original retraction. That's the story anyways - unless it all is a bunch of social media drama. So far Marshall is saying it was more. So yes, the Liberal sky is falling into Antifa illiberalism unless you have proof otherwise...

I’m assuming you were this concerned about how The Dixie Chicks were treated after they criticized W, or how Colin Kaepernick was treated after he began taking a knee.

His complaint says there was pressure to fire him, he doesn’t say it came from the label, and he said he apologized because he wanted to protect his band mates. He also said despite the pressure the band was willing to stick by him and let him continue. Where’s your proof?

It's "The Chicks" now Merrick, your speech is making them and us feel unsafe, and the proof is that we said it. Besides f**k "The Chicks" they are rich and got what they deserved...

There you go, f**k Kaepernick. So your brand of free speech rights really only goes one way, doesn’t it? Typical. And the name calling, also typical.
