Rooms have nodes and nulls. Avoid sitting in either area. Common problem is chair or sofa can be close to the wall which is a big node area and bass heavy, kind of like a built in loudness button. The further speakers are from front wall the more comb filter effects appear, usually nulls. Bass traps usually go in corners.
Depends on the frequency, below 100hz good luck. And it probably is at those frequencies and then you’re better off looking into multisub, room correction and a good crossover.
Room otherwise sounds pretty good despite being open concept to other rooms/vaulted ceilings, and a wall of windows. A little echoy still. Obviously not doing critical listening from back corner seat, but just something I noticed when chilling reading there. Crappy wide angle photo of the room in question to show position of things. https://i.imgur.com/ornEDkG.jpg
@bixby Loudness button is exactly what it is like sitting in that back corner, perfect way to describe it. Not necessarily something I need to solve, as I rarely will sit there listening, but I wondered if that means putting a bass trap there would help for listening from the sweet spot/sofa position.
@Riotvan haven't explored M33 DIRAC yet, but will once I have my Ohms in the space which is the permanent plan. Not sure how well software room correction will work with omnis though.
A guy goes to the doctor, pokes himself in the chest, says, "Doc, it hurts when I do this."
Doc: "well, don't do it, then!"
I love that joke. But seriously... Is it worth what might be a lot of effort to tune that corner, rather than move your reading chair? Given that you have good sound in other places, and the effort/side-effect is unknown quantity, I'd take the easy obvious answer here.
Very nice looking room. I would not waste time on a trap if you listen on the couch. I would be more inclined to place that plant behind the couch over by the windows to diffuse that first reflection. Or you could put an absorbing panel there, but it would mess up the look.
