Msrp 4.5k usd is stupid price as higher Audezes always are. Doesn't make any sense to me. But maybe those earning 10+ times more can justify themselves lol.

Inflation calculator is saying $4k in 2016 is now $4,559.32 so makes sense with costs going up across the board for like everything.

Wood prices have been going up and their wood ring supplier can't keep up with demand so I don't hate the change to acetate for the rings.

With Meze and DCA and their new flagship prices, $4500 isn't that big of jump in price in comparison.

@netforce Oh, you're totally right. I was honestly a little surprised they didn't put 5k 6k 7k ... (HFM, Abyss, Meze, DCA, etc). I'm just uncomfortable with any prices north to 3k. lol

I think the reason why they priced it so conservatively is because it does not sound as good as the 4, would it been better to name it the 4S or something, the number 5 is just for marketing I guess. Believe me if Audeze could price it at 6-7k they would, they're not the heroes here.

Overall, the past year and a half there hadn't been much exciting news for flagships coming out of the west cause there hadn't been any shows. CanJam SoCal is this weekend and we already got new flagship DCA/Meze/Stax/Audeze. They been refining their new stuff and the reality that everything is more expensive to make now and ship so prices increase.

Ain't great but I honestly expect the way the next year will go, announce a new flagship at some high price now, come out with the trickle down, cheaper version later. Granted if they got the staff to make that happen. Companies for the past year or so I have talked to say, they are having hard time, like everyone, hiring.

@nishan99 Supposedly the driver surface area is the same as the 4, but the driver entirety is smaller (18mm I think? can't remember.) I dunno, Ill wait till I hear it before passing judgement. I think they must have done *something* to make them think its an LCD-5, not another 4 variant...time will tell I suppose.

@ufospls2 Hope you would quickly get your pair (and congrat for your new purchase)! Do you still own Susvara? I'm quite curious how Audeze's new vocing (shown in both LCD5 and CRBN) stacks against SV.

I do. I'll post in the main thread with comparisons once I get a bit time with them. No idea when they will ship. The estimate says early october, but people are into the 7th week of waiting for the CRBN so who knows really.
