    Hopefully just a blown fuse!

I hope it can be repaired. With the rise of surface mount chips and ever more miniaturization, it seems more AV gear has become disposable.

Yikes...I too hope it's a relatively easy fix. If not, at least you'll have the best recommendations here...

Ugh, really sorry. My HT receiver stopped recognizing IR signals from remotes and I haven't had the time or scratch to get it repaired yet. I feel you.

Thanks for the support, folk... There seems to be something funny happening with the house power, although everything else is working. I have to debug this, then find time to try try alternative inputs, same inputs on another amp, etc. And a friend suggested taking the cover off and checking the fuse so, that too. Or, rather, *first!*

It *looks* as if it is working. All lights on the front do the right things. Just... no sound.

So sorry to read your system is down. Is there more than one fuse? Possibly one or two on PCB assemblies somewhere?

I haven't looked inside yet. I'm still really at the trace by elimination/substitution stage, but my head is not feeling too bright, and it's all confusing me!

One thing: I plug in an iFi ican... and the case "buzzes" like crazy. I'm sure that did not happen when I used it daily a few years back. It's a two-pin wall-wart. I get about 3v Neutral/Earth at that socket --- but the thing is not earthed anyway. Duh...

Were you able to determine the culprit? 'Up & Running' I do hope. Cheers,

I suspect both the firewire DAC and the amplifier. Sad!

The headphone-out on the DAC, which I used to use before I realised how awful it is, produces nothing but buzz and crackle.

I'm not happy using an alternative headphone amp while that gives me so much electric case buzz.

I have at least managed to get sound to 'phones using USB and a GeekOut dongle.

    Cheers!

I believe the amplifier is dead. There are three fuses, two inside and a mains fuse: they are all ok. There is no obvious bad stuff inside, but I'm not an electonicisian.

We have one hifi repair wizard in this city. He's retired, but I heard he was still taking some work. @Koth Ganesh ? Anyway, I'll message him

From the board: Assembled by Pam, checked by Sam :). In November 2011. I've had it since 2012.
