Do you mean (British English) sports car?

Not my thing, so I can't really comment, but I there is a quite an interest in doing stuff like rebuilding/restoring old MGs. Then there is at least one pretty-much-hand-built sports car, the name of which I forget, for the wealthy. Ahh... Morgan.

Motorsport of all kinds has always been pretty popular in the UK afaik. Plus, they actually turn right once in a while.

As a Brit, I have the impression that Americans are more crazy about automobiles than Brits are about cars!

@Thad E Ginathom - Americans are really into muscle cars with big engines and lots of torque. Throw aerodynamics out the window. My impression is that the premium Italian sports cars (Ferrari, Lamborghini) are more popular in the UK.

Those are the toys of super-rich, whereas restoring something like an MG is relatively affordable.

I think some Americans like doing stuff like putting 6-litre engines in an ordinary body. And raising the thing three feet in the air. The latter I never could understand. Brits do, i think, have silly-powered drag racing, but those are not road cars.
