Yeah, seems like... it is able to indeed do 3Vrms into higher impedance. So 300Ω Senns sound... very loud at just 50% volume. I haven't tried to connect to an amp yet but, I'd say, for the most part, this thing does not need an amp. Apple is basically killing off cheaper DAC/Amp with this move!

That's a good idea! I think one of the members of the ORFAS will have one and be able to measure it. I don't happen to have an AP-5xx, otherwise I'd do the measurement myself.

I've always thought about making a small amp for high impedance headphones. High-Z does not need a lot of current so you don't need big heatsinks to use it. Seems like apple went ahead and did that.
