Got used LCD-4 + RD mods. WOW. Good way to make me question my headphone collection. Smooth yet nothing missing. Superb presentation.

Latest pressing of Aqualung is rather fantastic even on my cheap vinyl rig.

I'm glad those stabilized ZMF Verites sold out so fast. THEY WERE SO PRETTY and I did not need one.

RD is @rhythmdevils . He also mods the Adorama version which is easier to find than the one I have but there are minor differences.

Crap, one of my ACME 2a3s died. I assume the Linlai's are a good equivalent? Open to other suggestions but don't want impossible to find.

I'm curious how did it fail, start-up or while running? Linlai's are former Psvane employees so I'd expect the same or better with the E permalloy series.

I think I jumped to an incorrect conclusion. At some point after being on for an hour or so, the left channel made some really loud popping noises and then turned to static. Turning the amp off and on again corrected the issue (and I used that chance to change the 2a3 tubes) but it happened again.

Changed the input and rectifier tubes and then it did not happen. Will test a few more times to try and narrow the issue to a specific tube or the amp.

I get that it serves as useful purpose. Usually I’m annoyed that it takes me 10 to 100 times longer to find the change I need to make that I could do in 2 minutes editing a source file.

This case was even more special, the admin was broken and images were pointing to a different domain that was recently taken down. Wanted to strangle the previous person. Ended up fixing the php code myself. I never doubted I could fix it but damn the time wasted …

I assume this is how a PM works. I would like to talk to your about your experience with my Black AMP. If you would be interested I can call you when you like (I will need a number) or you can call me at 512-912-6820 pretty much any time reasonable. Thank you for listening, Barry

Yeah, I saw your post and found it very informative and appropriately scary. Unfortunately I read it after I fiddled around for a while and probably messed up a cart or two. I will resume the pursuit of good vinyl sound when I have a bit more time, patience, and money for another cart (think I damaged a couple).
