I'm a pretty median-proportioned 6' tall dude and my sit-stand desk still doesn't go low enough for an ergonimic keyboard placement (29.75" off the floor). I'm looking into under-desk keyboard trays like it's 1992 in the DMV office.

Very loose understanding: Front horns are for frequencies above and back horns are for frequencies below?
      1. yotacowboy
        yotacowboy
I'm probably totally wrong, but I'll give this a try: length of the horn affects the amplitude of the reinforcement; longer horn = more loud. Size of the horn mouth affects the frequencies the horn "amplifies"; the larger the horn mouth, the lower the frequency the horn will provide acoustic impedance coupling to the air volume in the room.

So, for bass frequencies, and depending on the driver(!) you'll want a longer horn with a fairly large mouth. But for something like a tweeter, you'll want a shorter horn length, and less-larger horn mouth.

The album I remember doing it was contraband by velvet revolver. It auto ran and installed a root kit so when you tried to rip it it was all garbled. But if you turned off auto run or used a Mac/Linux it ripped fine lol

Wasn’t a reason to push SACD was because they had copy protection that CDs didn’t have?

Of course they needed to have features like higher resolution otherwise there was zero reason to switch from CD redbook. But I feel like the real reason was so you couldn’t rip it

@Cspirou Yes, and that is IMO the most effective disc based copy protection out there. There are still precious few devices that can be hacked to output the digital signal from an SACD.

You mean "monoblocking" it with a pair of retired Atlas PA601 amps and a Saga you have laying around isn't how you're supposed to drive your desktop speakers?

@Woland I see no real issue if your headphone amp can do at least 5w at 32 ohms. Depends on sensitivity of course and need to see the impedance curve. However most audio is at 1 watt or less.

Thanks @Cspirou - so to your point, there are a lot of non-class D headphone amps that could be used as small desktop speaker amps, if you choose the speaker appropriately. I haven't seen any commercially available 16 or 32 ohm desktop speakers, so this may be a DIY exclusive.

Possibly a hot take but I view Reddit as a stellar example of why democracy sucks, not to mention seeing how easily manipulated people can be by having their biases and preconceptions played to. No I don't have a suggestion as to a better system of rule but I firmly maintain that modern democracy where equal deference is given to the opinions of even the least qualified disgusts me.
