Roon Bridge is a lot more reliable than UPnP due to the closed sourced network that Roon operates. I still get minor issues when using UPnP, but hard to complain when UPnP is free.
1000% more reliable. My home Rpi/Ropiee based streamers are up for months at a time. My work Rpi/Moode/BubbleUpnp streamer gets rebooted at least once a week, often more.
Upnp can be used a bajillion ways on insane number of devices. Every setup will have reliability differences. Overall, Roon will be more consistently reliable because of what @YMO said. But before I had Roon I ran a couple of Sonore USB endpoint/streamers and a couple of Sotm ones, in UPnP mode with BubbleUPnP on my phone and they were all super reliable. RPi has been the least reliable, with UPnP or Roon.
There’s a catch with moOde with Roon Bridge: While the on/off on Roon Bridge is available, the drivers itself isn’t included with moOde. You have to install it via terminal, super easy.
Ropieee is pretty plug and go and reliable. But I have hit a few snags via some updates - after updating it, Roon just can't see it anymore and I try everything to no avail.Only thing that works is to reflash the card with full Ropieee. This has happened maybe 2-3 times over a year or more. Other than that, it just works.
