    You can pre-select the destination so it will automatically start playing there instead of on the phone, but the signal is going from your phone to the device. Not sure if Spotify connect works differently.

    With Spotify Connect any device can function as a remote. So I can start a stream from my phone to CCA or Sonos using Spotify connect, then open Spotify on PC or iPad and control Spotify playing on CCA/Sonos from there.

    Works great at the office as public WIFI is a separate network from our workstations. So I can stream Spotify using a CCA but still control the playback from PC.
