How much is clarity effected?

@BenjaminBore The modded Modi MB has significantly better clarity than stock.

Clarity is improved quite a bit. The transients are faster, much more engaging to me. I would call the stock modi mb soft in comparison.

Well, looks like I’m going to do it too. I need to open it up anyway to fix a problem with the optical input.

Which OpAmp - 1656 or 2156?

used the @Azimuth recommended setup
I/V & Buffer - OPA1656 (x2)
DC offset - OPA2156

Awesome. I had not been paying attention to that schiit hacking thread but this made me go and find it. I plan on doing this soon.

I still need my DC offset modded on mine, the one I have is just I/V and buffer with 1656.

level of difficulty for someone that has limited soldering skills? (ie., I built a BH Crack, but its not pretty). Working on something this small is a little intimidating to me...

It’s not overly difficult, but you have to be careful and slow. Lots of components (small) on the board. Some flux and wick can go a long way. Lots of videos on YouTube to show you what your in for!
