This is a total desaster. Especially German (and European) appeasement policy towards Russia was a huge mistake. What happened is only a surprise for those who did not want to see. I am devastated.

There's no justice since Americans don't give a shit about it. They are trying to pay their bills and try to afford their rent when it keep going up 10%-20% YoY. At least that's how I am seeing it locally.

I’m sure part of it is a lot of people feeling burned after Afghanistan. I feel so sad and helpless for the people of Ukr. When all is said and done history outside of Russsia will view Putin as one of the biggest villains of the past 50 years. Hopefully he doesn’t overtake Hitler but launching nukes might do it.

@YMO said it, but more or less looking after one's self interests and we have avoided major conflict with Russia for decades. And Trump praised Putin for being smart. I also think most don't want war, but I don't think Putin responds to economic sanctions.

BTW - just to be clear Trump didn’t just say Putin is smart. One could take that alone and say it was out of context. Trump twice spent several minutes doling out glowing praise of Putin and bragging about their relationship. It was not out of context and anyone can hear it here within the first 10 mins: https://www.clayandbuck.com/president-trump-with-cb-from-mar-a-lago/

While Trump is dumb and Putin is very intelligent, I don't know who is more dangerous.

We could end Trump but the world has been facing Putin's threat for decades. Clever and ambitious dictator is the worst combo to us all.

The injustice started in 1921 when the then divided territory above the Black Sea was forced into the later Sovjet Union. I was obsessed with Ukraine after MH-17. Complicated region that Black Sea area...

We’ve had bipartisan normalization of a 9/11’s worth of domestic deaths every day or two. Kind of hard to get people worked up about deaths halfway across the world in the face of that.

There’s also a fairly substantial portion of GOP voters who think Putin is great, and a smaller (but no less wrong) portion of Democratic voters who think that previous immoral U.S. foreign policy somehow lessons the immorality of what Putin’s doing.
