WE WILL CARRY YOU PERSONALLY INTO VALHALLA! (Or Lyr, or Asgard, or something like that). Too early?

"The Nuclear Apocalypse: don't knock it till you've tried it" seems like a weird stance to take, and yet...

I prefer to survive and want the politicians to work it out.

Being close to NYC, I won’t have a choice. On the other hand, I’ll be incinerated before I realize what the bright flash is.

I'm by LAX, the AFB and Raytheon so inside #allthefireballs, but assuming I have an opportunity to bounce in advance, looking forward to helping flatten the curve on the mineshaft gap.

Do they still have missile silos in North Dakota? Probably close enough to me for radiation poisoning even if I avoid the outright vaporization.

"Doctor, you mentioned the ratio of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn't that necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned?"

"Regrettably, yes. But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race. I hasten to add that since each man will be required to do prodigious... service along these lines."

If they responded "Yes, I'd rather be dead" are they actually saying - "Oh come sweet death and free me from my present despair..." or "In that scenario, I'd rather die with as little pain as possible."? I'm guessing it's the latter? Guessing the other 10% probably assume survival with some quality of life intact.

Yeah. Vaporization sounds preferable to them vs scrounging in the hinterlands for radioactive berries before ultimately being killed by bandits or ARS.

I don't think it's people want to die. It's people don't want to die a slow painful death via radiation poisoning and sickness or whatever.

On top of that, if 95% of the world was destroyed by nuclear war, life would look vastly different. All modern stuff would be useless pretty soon. Society would probably degrade to people running around killing each other or something equally bleak.

I recently learned of the story of Ouchi Hisashi and how he ended up living in a dead body for months after exposure to lethal radiation. I'd honestly rather live, but between the choice of a quick death with some dignity and an ignoble protracted decaying where you KNOW there isn't hope of convalescence, I have an idea of which I'd prefer. That said, f**k war and the people who push for it.
