@HotRatSalad It's def worth picking up a made on on Audiomart for cheap, just to try it. That's what I did. I liked it so much I've comissioned the Etsy dude to make me a nice one.
I have a SW51 and HD650 combo on loan from a good friend. I've never heard mids this good, it's addictive. What genres of music do you switch to the BH Crack for? What are it's strengths/weaknesses compared to the SW51?
@PTS I agree, SW51+ are the best mids I've ever heard and I've had a lot of gear come and go. So clear, true, yet alluring and non harsh. I find the BHC is a tad better for stuff like hard rock and metal, that little bit of bass bloom and extra softness helps so I can crank the volume and jam out but not get fatigued.
@PTS SW51+ I use for any sort of vocal singer song writer stuff or things that are well recorded. Or if I just want to hear some really amazing vocals or drumming, some reason I love drums on the SW51+.
I disagree about "it ain't much". It doesn't cost much, but that is a stellar pair of modest headamps between which to alternate. Both see listening rotation time in my lab. If ever I must downsize that combo is on the short list.
Thanks to the loaner tour I got to hear the SW51+ for the first time...I knew it would be good, but its so good I now own one! Thanks to some friends here!
@HotRatSalad Same, mine has a hum no matter what I do. I don't hear it on the HD650 since it's so open. And since that's my main headphone now it works for me. Always wondered what that hum is.. some people have had it too.
When I had my sw51+ all my other SE stuff didn't hum, it did though. Apparently it didn't for the people it ended up with but I was honest about it. Think it's with an SBAF member as well.
@HotRatSalad Gotcha, I wouldn't have noticed the hum if I didn't have closed back headphones. So maybe the buyer just stuck a HD6X0 on it and was happy.
