I hear the same vocal distortions on my 2002 CD as I do on my vinyl copy. People claim that the vocal distortion on vinyl is only due to IGD, but I call BS. I have a decent stylus, have played with anti-skate, and don't see this type of distortion on other records.
I think they went to a demo vocal track and re-mixed it or are just providing the demo, but not sure. Waiting to see what others report. (I saw LFF saying years ago that you could fix if you went back to the original source tapes and were very careful about it.) We'll see!
@zonto see my link above to see the details on why there is distortion in the original. Unless they used other vocals, I assume it to still be there [edit: but as CEE TEE mentioned, they may be using a different vocal track]
Remastered version of the release...plus right after the demos- they first recorded the album at the Allaire Studios (but it strayed too far from the demos and they re-recorded it for the released version). This is the first time they are releasing the Allaire Studios version.
