Haha will report back after getting to try em on some nice speakers, but based on memory the $50 (I think?) active bookshelf ones I have/had were less uncanny since I could at least localise them in "real" space, not have one ear completely missing out etc.
Haha, must have just somehow gotten used to them on the latter over the last few years I guess. That said it's been a long while since i listened to the stereo Revolver mix so that could well just be my sanity kicking in!
They didn't really have a pan console to blend between L-R. So all you got was one track L, Mono, or R. Mixing stereo became a new thing and an pan-pot had to be invented. Jimi Hendix did it too for fun blending and panning on Axis and Electric Ladyland. And Brian Wilson hated stereo at first.
