Been really considering this, myself, since I also have a BHA-1 - although I know the resident Audeze expert is not a fan of that pairing, Audeze themselves seem to be.
Knowing my sonic preferences (tilted up/detail/etc.) I’m also super curious about the SR1a’s, which have been coming up on the used market with a Jot-R for 2k-ish pretty often, so been eyeing those, too. Can’t decide where to put my money!
@internethandle keep in mind the resident ortho expert didn't like the BHA-1 for anything, not just Audeze. I share his opinion on this but if you enjoy it with other headphones you may agree with wbass and like the synergy.
Re: the Bryston. There's some slight murk there. But what it does well--slam, width, power--really complements my LCD-2F, which is never going to be a super-resolving HP anyway. So the strengths seem to work together, and the weakness is no big deal. With the LCD-2F.
That said, I also like my HD800S and Utopia with the BHA-1. It's certainly not the last word there--Starlett and Studio Jr. are better still--but the Bryston is at least a decent all-rounder.
I am still getting to know the BHA-1 myself. I've had it for a few weeks. A while ago, I had a JOT2 which was hilariously punchy - I would get ghost bass in my chest, but I found it a touch close and murky. I sold it but wish I had it around for a comparo. Not sure how it would play with the 800S and LCD-X. The BHA-1 is quite good, I think.
Fun turn of events. The guy who bought my Jot2 is looking for a Rebel Amp, which I have. Did some horse trading and my old Jot 2 is on its way back to me.
