I don't know if my ears are cursed or if I just have the worst luck with IEMs but I was babying these ffs. Dunking in a bag with silica gel as soon as I get hands on the stuff. Either I spend more on another repair or it'll turn out that I wasted lots of money the previous time, just didn't leave with a desiccant for long enough (though CA reported that yep it was dead). /End rant.
@shotgunshane they never specified. I'm looking at the old email exchange now and what they said was it'd cost more in parts, labour, and time to pin down a specific issue than just replacing things would. The crux was that it was just random failure.
The person I spoke with said that it could have been moisture entering the chassis but I tried storing the problematic channel in uncooked rice for a couple days to no avail. I'm ordering a bulk of silica gel and mummifying it this time.
This whole affair cost me between 290 and 300 USD (conversion has been weird lately) which is an excellent price for a full replacement, but I'm banking on a more thorough drying to sort this out. Of course it means I could have just wasted a lot of money first time around, but the current set has a better midrange balance for me, lucky. Yeah Solaris still has some variability.
@Cryptowolf Thanks. I think I should have thought to really inundate them with silica gel packs but I was panicking the first time this happened. Just incredulous and miffed now. At least the current pair has a nicer voicing. Sigh, I should buy a carton of the stuff.
I was given a year's warranty upon pickup but just sending them there will be another $100 or more now. Not even sure if this'll qualify for warranty service at this point, I'm just ashamed.
