People can agree/disagree about something but the worse is people that blatantly refuse to read what has been written and that's infuriating. They take their interpretation to the grave although they have been corrected and it turns out impossible to burst their bubble. This is very different of just disagreeing, which should be respected.
@rhythmdevils I did think the initial post was confusing so saw the less charitable views as one way to interpret them, so tried for clarity. Then shit went down and I don't know if y'all had bad coffee or whatever (I messed up today's brew bleh) but that was a mess to put it very mildly.
You're right, my oringal response was not clear enough. But both me and Dan clarified the misinterpretation many many times and some people would not let go of their mistaken reading. It's ok to misunderstand, its ok to voice complaints about the site.
But it's not cool to hold onto misinterpretations after staff have gone way way way out of their way to clarify the misinterpretations over and over again. And then repeat and spread these misinterpretations around the forum.
It's just a pain in the pooter that misunderstandings happen and that personal worth gets tied into being "right" in many instances where conversations about a topic should remain conversations JUST about the same. Sigh.
Even if it’s corporate cultism sometimes, the Seven Habits got this one right: seek first to understand, then to be understood. And it pretty much has to be in that order.
You can't really call the issue a misunderstanding @Lyander . If it was a misunderstanding than it would have been clarified when both Dan and myself explained in depth how things operate and what we were trying to say. If after those posts the original people expressing concerns either changed their concerns to address the truth, or let go of their concerns, it could be called a misunderstanding.
Hah, that's what I meant by personal worth being invested in prior statements; began as a mismatch between what someone wrote and what others read but then the matter of willingly admitting misunderstanding becomes unpalatable. I'm still in a shit mood overall cuz of the Solaris so meh. Should have kept quiet.
Forgot: @Deep Funk prose that eloquently and succinctly conveys idea is indeed no different from poetry. Thing is, nuances in bourbon and beer are different; the more delicate notes are obfuscated in the distillation so greater risk of glossing over.
It was simple disagreement, but presented in a kind of over-the-top way, because of the fear and mistrust caused by HF and the like. That's understandable, though it doesn't excuse any genuine rudeness. And it should, at least, have been balanced with a *mountain* of gratitude.
