But wow, SW51+ has changed that opinion. Going between that pairing and Lyr 3 w/ Focal Elex (which I’ve been loving for some time) is a very different presentation, but can’t really say it’s “better” than the SW51/HD650.

I have had a similar struggle with the HD 650 (even though I really started in the hobby with 6XX and Jot 1 combo). Still haven't quite found one that can really unseat the 600 for me other than maybe the black silk baffle 650. Going to give a JAR V2 650 mod a try and see if that works out though.

I don’t know much about the JAR mods. Can you do those yourself, or you need to send your headphones to him (or buy a new set with the mods?)

I didn't really start to appreciate HD650 until I started throwing power at it with A3 (and then eventually Jot2 and MJ1). It's always scaled well, for me it needs a bit of a push to get off the line.

@rlow They are not do it yourself, gotta ship em to Korea for Jupiter to do the work. Worth the hassle though.

@Qildail the Jot 2 didn’t really do it for me with the 650s. Not sure what kind of magic this SW51+ has but it seems to lift a lot of the veil. But it doesn’t really match up nearly as well with the Elex. Lyr 3 is a much better match for the Elex.

@Inoculator what does it cost to get the mod done? and/or who do i contact for it?
