Seriously—everything sounds truly awful, especially horns, it's so weirdly bright I have to turn the vol down to compensate. Timbre? What timbre? I just taste metal. When I first listened to it, the DAC had been powered on for 2 days straight. ignorance rly is bliss, everyone

My LCD-X & 7hz Timeless take roughly the same current from my LAuX to get to the same dB. Volume pot at 9:30 and 8:30, respectively, lmao

I don't know what levels you listen at but RU6 had more than enough power for the Timeless, as does an Apple dongle.

On one of Henry's spoken words he was talking about the crowds in the Underground and how he wanted to yell "The Smiths are getting back together!" just to disrupt the crowd so they would all leave so he could get to his train.

        1. At lower volume levels, it's honestly hard to tell a difference, with a ever so slight edge going to the Gungnir.

        2. I was totally wrong about Pangea XLRs vs no-name Amazon RCAs sounding similar on the LAuX... in spite of the extra gain, the XLRs sound fuller-bodied and fills out the soundstage more. The difference is not as big as I had hoped, but it is noticable for sure.

        3. At normal listening levels, the liquid goodness that is the Gungnir Multibit comes alive full force, individual notes have more "air", the low end becomes filled out, any AK velvet-muffledness/anemia fully gone. Makes you want to listen for a lot longer than the allotted test time. All is well and as it should be.

I go to several concerts a week consisting of songs in several Indian languages none of which I understand. But how different is this from the many opera lovers who don't speak German, Italian, etc etc.

(The mass in Latin was amazing. Not wishing people should go back to not even being able to access the Bible in their own language, but hey, the whole thing just got dumbed down now)

Honestly, I think I actually must have moderate hearing damage—I could be happy with gen2 USB, no BNC via Pi2AES, and single-ended RCA cables going from amp to DAC. My favorite piece of gear though? Has to be the Gungnir A1; I really wonder how much of a step up the Yggdrasil A2/OG is..

4 years after n+1 magazine's Mark Grief autopsied the dead specter of the hipster, in Lana del Rey’s satirical-autobiographical “Brooklyn Baby” there’s an easy mondegreen when she sings “my jazz collections rare”—she could just as easily be singing “my jazz collections real” —either way, this liberal postmodern obsession with “authenticity” and nostalgia-as-radical-chic cred fetishizes and amasses cultural capital, bc that’s all it can do: see and be seen as countercultural, taking revolutionary symbols of the not-so-distant past as fashion icons, as totems, as fetish objects, all the while caching sprezzatura as reified capital. It’s the same move when the hippies turned into the pioneers of Silicon Valley.
