Personally I don't use the ignore button since it makes some people want to stay in their bubble. That is fine for some....but blowing up bubbles is part of life.
On one of the few other forums I frequent, when you ignore someone, you still see a post every single time they post letting you know you ignored them, and every time someone replies to them, the original post is shown. I see more garbage in the thread interrupting reading than if I didn't ignore in the first place.
Here, if there is too much noise, one click and forever forgotten. Less about the why I use it, and more about how much I appreciate its simplicity and completeness.
Now that I think about it, I haven't had to use the function in years it seems like. Not sure if that's because I'm not as active, don't care as much, or there just aren't as many randos as before.
