Why do some DNA amps have "K1000" above the 4-pin balanced input? Were they designed with that headphone in mind, or

Is there any good (tube-based) EC or DNA amp that fits atop/stacks with a Gungnir? Or is it purely a side-by-side scenario for big boy amps?

Part of Craig’s design language is that all of his amps are a different size and none of them stack on anything.

I need to hear a good EC or DNA amp before I buy. @ganzy do you think anyone will have those amps at Canjam 2023? I know it's not the best "meet" or even the best place to demo headphones, more like the bottom of places, but I live near Dallas, so no travel accommodations necessary. I know DNA was at the Schiit Audio show, but I didn't listen to his amps, like a fool...

Friend’s daughter asked for and got a Victrola brand turntable over a year ago when she was 15 and I was glad to recently see that she is still enthusiastically buying vinyl. Like many people I think she enjoys the tactile experience after having grown up in the digital world and she enjoys music as well.

I dislike iOS 16 because there are too many settings and choices. Many had this complaint about Android, though it never bothered me when I used it (2011–16). But one of the strengths of iOS used to be that even a boomer housewife could figure out the settings without asking. That was lost by iOS 15; and it's considerably worse in 16.

Agreed, and it's not intuitive—the settings that you can customize. Definitely boomer-proof. It's a wonder why they did it, were there really people with pitchforks at the loop demanding rather silly and badly implemented customizations?

Downgraded to Monterey and got my 16 hours per charge back, when I was lucky to get 6 on Ventura. But downgrading to iOS 15.7 hasn’t shown the same battery life as before… perhaps it’s a hardware issue?

4 years after n+1 magazine's Mark Grief autopsied the dead specter of the hipster, in Lana del Rey’s satirical-autobiographical “Brooklyn Baby” there’s an easy mondegreen when she sings “my jazz collections rare”—she could just as easily be singing “my jazz collections real” —either way, this liberal postmodern obsession with “authenticity” and nostalgia-as-radical-chic cred fetishizes and amasses cultural capital, bc that’s all it can do: see and be seen as countercultural, taking revolutionary symbols of the not-so-distant past as fashion icons, as totems, as fetish objects, all the while caching sprezzatura as reified capital. It’s the same move when the hippies turned into the pioneers of Silicon Valley.
