It’s a known bug with the earlier firmware. There’s a replacement chip you drop in.You can search for it here. I still need to update the chip on mine.

Yep, known issue. And given the discussion Jason gave about tracking it down for MMB2 (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/schiit-happened-the-story-of-the-worlds-most-improbable-start-up.701900/page-7070#post-17307570), was almost a bug for the new DAC as well.

Interestingly, my Modi MB hasn’t done this in over 18 months. It used to do it all of the time. Only change I made was upgrading to a much nicer UPS - still line interactive, not double conversion. Not convinced that’s what fixed my Modi though. I’m still not sure why it stopped messing up.

Around that time, I also moved to a secluded house from an apartment complex with lots of RF and other noise.

IIRC mine hasn't done it since v2 FW.
