Person playing prog rock/metal, focusing so much on technical skills that there’s no soul left in the music.

Disclaimer: While I’m not a big fan, I like some prog rock/metal bands.
But I like the term, anyway, it’s spot on for some music out there. :)

Not a musical term, but I'm a fan of the insulting "sitzpisser". Means what you think it means, a man who sits when he pisses. "Warmduscher", which is incidentally a London-based band, is also a fun insult, it lit means "warm showerer" but is used derisively to refer to what we would call a "wimp"

Another word we don't have that the Germans do that is more useful is "Fremdschämen" which lit means "strange shame [to be]" or the kind of embarrassment you feel when someone else makes an ass of themselves right in front of you, kinda the opposite of the popular Schadenfreude.

My friends can tell that I mean the same thing when I call a pianist "a technician." Plenty of those around, especially on the competition circuit.
