too bad my entire tube collection was cleaned with de-oxit 5. I just found this De-oxit kit made for cleaning tube pins, but it's rather ridiculous, asking for a 2 step cleaning process. I have too many tubes for that shit, this isn't fine leather or something.

I guess De-Oxit 5 stays on the pins. so something that evaporates is recommended. I read this recommendation

"clean Isopropyl alcohol (96-99% pure if possible; DON'T use rubbing alcohol - it contains minerals and oils that tubes don't like). We recommend using wooden-handled Q-Tips for the actual application and scrubbing (the paper-handled Q-Tips fall apart under pressure)."

I got one of those kits years ago. It's definitely obnoxious -- tiny amount for $$, IIRC, and the process is annoying with like overnight soaking in this cheap little plastic tray they give you that would fit, at largest, small signal tubes.

IDK, I'm skeptical. Seems like marketing BS to me, know plenty of people who have used OG Deoxit on tube pins. The alcohol suggestion and/or cleaning off the excess after getting off obvious/gross oxidation seems like good advice, to me.

Someone should make an electric tube pin cleaner like they have record cleaners. I don't want to sit and scrub with a Q tip. Maybe a Dremel with the right head on it would work well. A brass brush head with long brushes to reach in there, and just keep adding pure alchohol.

I've used De-Oxit for years on tubes without issue. I usually scrub dirty pins with a brass brush, or really dirty ones with a dremel, and wire wheel.

I literally just got a new tube adapter today for my Vali 2+ to sample my 5670/396A/2C51 as a mock Vali 2++. I have the ECC84 adapter for the tube @Azimuth recommended (RFT) I just sprayed the JAN 5670 and stuck it in the adapter. I gave the pins a quick cotton rub off before going in. Yummy

I’ve always used anhydrous isopropyl alcohol with a brass brush, Scotch Brite, or one of the toothbrushes my dentist gives me that I never use.

Welp, I thought I put a 5670 in there, but it was a 5687 - It let out some magic smoke until I shut'er down. It seems to be working fine with the stock 6N1P in there. I sorta like the stock 6N1P over the ECC84 RFT. I have no idea the brand on the 6N1P, but it is very balance. Almost chucked the Vali 2+, I was sad and upset with myself. I do have an actual 2C51, just requires a little more work.
