He's got a solitary safe room and we haven't been crowding him. I'm sure it'll just take time. It'll be quite a while before he even meets the other cat, after some scent swapping and eating on opposite sides of the door. But for now, I just want him to feel ready to meet us.
Congrats! That's awesome, you're good to rescue the little guy. It took 3 months to integrate our kittens with our old cat, but he was a grumpy only child. After he passed away, we adopted another old cat and the no-longer kittens took to her in less than a week.
when i got my cat from the local shelter, she was haughty and i could tell thought little of me, bit and scratched both me and my partner, but for some reason, i was like "this is the one" and she turned out to be the most affectionate, if sometimes a lil saucy, cat ever.
Our cat was super nervous at first too, but also wanted to be around people all the time... so for a while she spent all her time hiding under chairs and couches, but always in a room with somebody else.
