Nope. Based on actual listening tests. Can't even beat Fulla. Could beat Svala, our planned dongle. Hence no dongle. But no, new sooper MacBook Pro can absolutely not trade blows with Fulla. Much less Magni/Modi.

2020 mac pro, however I'm driving a Koss ESP950 so I don't know if the laptop knows what to do when pushing into a line-in but I like it better with the modi+. Lots more power into the amp so I don't have to crank it as high

Why Apple wants to put in a good headphone app on a a laptop when they can get you to buy some Airpods?

New MacBook Pro headphone output is no joke--kills most dongles, including the one we thought we were going to bring out. But it's not a giant-slayer. Especially not against something that can swing 30V.

You should still do it @schiit I'd buy a schiit dongle before a MacBook ... I'm sure lots of people would as well. Dongle is way more portable than a MacBook.

New chip means maybe dongle is still on the table...manufacturer was rattled when we said, "Nope, not doing it, not as good as MacBook Pro." We'll see.

@schiit I suppose you won’t reveal what chip was used in the prototype?

I long for the day a dongle can beat my 2021 16” MacBook Pro, but it takes a Modi MB + Piety/ new Magni to easily beat it. I don’t feel like putting that stack at my open desk at work works, but the headphone jack makes any dongle or (any comparable priced) all-in-one sound like a moot point so far.

Maybe I’m behind the times, but I’m comparing an HD600 on the Magni Uber (2?) to my MacBook and as a Schiithead, I feel like the MacBook is evenly matched.
